COVE is a locally owned eyecare practice. Dr. Matthew Karres bought the practice in 2018 and rebuilt it around the things a small office does best: doctors who know your family, advanced specialty contact lens fitting, and glasses finished in our own lab. Here are the people you'll actually see when you walk in.
Dr. Matthew Karres.
Dr. Matthew Karres grew up in New Albany from age 16 and graduated from New Albany High School. After earning his undergraduate degree at Capital University, he took a detour most optometrists don't: the United States Army, where he served as a combat medic. He went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry.
While in school, he developed a strong interest in specialty contact lenses, with hands-on training in scleral, gas-permeable, multifocal, and orthokeratology fitting. After graduating, he worked as a research optometrist at the OSU College of Optometry, studying contact lens solutions, scleral lens filling solution, and atropine for myopia management, and presenting that research at optometry conferences. Today he brings that research background and years of clinical fitting experience to COVE's specialty contact lens patients, and he personally designs every WAVE scleral lens rather than fitting from a stock catalog.
In 2018, he came back home: he bought the New Albany practice where COVE now stands and rebuilt it as Central Ohio Vision and Eyecare.

Dr. Amy Keller.
Dr. Amy Keller grew up in Normal, Illinois, and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois before moving to Columbus for The Ohio State University College of Optometry, where she graduated in 2000. In the more than 25 years since, she has cared for thousands of patients across Central Ohio, with a particular love for pediatric and family eyecare and for solving tricky contact lens fits.
Her volunteer record says as much as her resume: she is an InfantSEE provider (no-cost vision assessments for babies 6 to 12 months), a longtime Realeyes Classroom Education volunteer who has taught eye health to more than 13,000 Ohio students, and a helper with the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program.
Outside the office, Dr. Keller spends her time with her husband and three daughters, serves in her church's children's ministry and worship band, and sings lead with the award-winning Scioto Valley Chorus barbershop harmony group.

Dr. Kayli Dennis.
Dr. Kayli Dennis is a Central Ohio native from Westerville. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at The Ohio State University in 2015, then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the OSU College of Optometry in 2019, graduating with honors as a four-year member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. In school she was active in the Contact Lens Advancement Society, the Private Practice Club, and Epsilon Psi Epsilon.
At COVE she sees patients of all ages for exams and contact lens care. Away from the clinic she is a Buckeyes fan through and through, and she enjoys traveling, movies, audiobooks, and time with her husband Ryan and their dog Scarlet.

The doctors write the prescription; these are the people who turn it into glasses you love wearing, in most cases finished right here in our in-house lab.
Louis, optician and insurance billing specialist
Louis fits and adjusts eyewear at COVE and runs our insurance billing. That combination matters more than it sounds: the person helping you pick frames is the same person who knows exactly what your VSP or EyeMed plan covers, so you find out what things cost before you commit, not after. Patients know him for patience with the details, whether that's a tricky frame adjustment or an insurance question nobody else could untangle.
Karisa D., licensed optician
Karisa has been with COVE since 2022 and earned her optician's license in 2024. She followed her mom into the eyecare field and is the optician many of our younger patients ask for by name; she has a knack for making kids comfortable during frame fittings. Outside the office she is raising two boys, tending a vegetable garden, and taking her German Shepherd, Nitro, on adventures, when she isn't reading, drag racing, or riding her dirt bike. She will also tell you, unprompted, that COVE has the best snacks.
