Versatile Sunglass Lenses That Are Affordable and High-Quality

The COVE Polarized is the lens we use for all of our sunglasses. Polarization refers to the lens’ ability to cut glare, reflections and improve contrast and comfort. You would want this lens if you spend any amount of time outside – it will protect your eyes and improve your vision! This is not a stand-alone option, you would add this to either our COVE Evolution or COVE Single Vision lens depending on your prescription needs. There are a variety of color options – some for high contrast, some for increased darkness. The choice will be determined by what you are going to use them for.

Typically, there are two more prevalent options for sunglass lenses – grey or brown.  There are also another 10 or so options that are available depending on what type of activities or sports you participate in.  Grey is excellent for driving or general use – it is dark, it blocks a lot of the brightness of a sunny day and tends to feel the best in the dead of winter or summer.  Brown is ideal in a different way – it is much higher contrast and warms most tones up, so any time you are in shade or it’s cloudy in any way brown lenses do a much better job with clarity and crispness.  The downside is that a brown lens tends to transmit more light, so it does a worse job of blocking extremely bright or direct light than a grey lens would.

For the other dozen options or so, we can order many different types of polarized lenses.  There are a number of different manufacturers that all have excellent yet different lenses, and we try and carry as many of those options as possible.  Maui Jim, Ray-Ban, Revo, Xperio, Coppertone and Kodak are all available at COVE and depending on what kind of lens you need we will have one available that suits you.  We also are able to offer a great many options to customize your lenses to your personal style and offer many mirror coatings and anti-reflectives based on your preferences.

How Are My New Sunglasses Made?

Once you have selected your frame (or dropped off an old one!) we start working on getting those lenses finished. Licensed opticians use the incredibly precise measurements of tools like Optikam to lay your lenses out super accurately – to tenth of a millimeter precision. We customize the bevel of the lens to ensure they fit your frame perfectly, but most importantly they cause the frame to match your head perfectly. We hide any thickness of your prescription lenses, add a beautifully high-luster polish to the edge and our state-of-the-art edger whittles them down to perfect finished prescription lenses. At this point, we assemble them by hand and inspect them for quality and accuracy. Deep clean and shine later – voila! You have handcrafted, perfect, amazing glasses.

You can get glasses anywhere but when you get your glasses from COVE, you know that you have a pair of precision, hand finished glasses that are worlds different from what you’re used to getting. Come see us. You’ll see better.
