What’s Involved in a Contact Lens Exam?
When you visit Central Ohio Vision and Eyecare for a contact lens exam, we start with a comprehensive eye examination. Here’s what you can expect:
- Initial Evaluation: We check your glasses prescription and assess the health of your eyes to ensure contacts are a good option.
- Lens Recommendation: Based on the exam findings, we recommend the best type of contact lens for your visual needs, whether for astigmatism, presbyopia, or other conditions.
- Lens Options: Our doctors explain the different types of lenses available to provide you with the most comfortable vision.
- Fitting and Trial: We offer soft daily, biweekly, and monthly lenses, as well as custom GP, scleral, and hybrid lenses. You will try the lenses, and we evaluate the fit, vision, and comfort.
- Training for New Wearers: If you’re new to contacts, we provide one-on-one training on insertion, removal, and lens care.
- Trial Period: You’ll take home a trial set of lenses to test for a few days in the real world.
- Follow-Up: After a week, we check back to ensure the lenses are comfortable, easy to handle, and provide good vision.
- Satisfaction Guaranteed: We don’t charge for follow-ups. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we ensure you find the right contact lenses for your eyes.
Cost of a Contact Lens Exam
The cost of a contact lens exam at Central Ohio Vision and Eyecare depends on several factors, including the type of lens and your insurance coverage. For many patients with insurance, the cost can be as low as $60. If you don’t have coverage, you can take advantage of our COVE Plus program, which includes the exam and fitting for $250.
New to Contact Lenses?
For new wearers, we set aside special time for one-on-one insertion and removal training. This service is free and includes detailed instructions on lens care to keep your eyes healthy.
Medically Necessary Contact Lenses
If you have specific eye conditions, you may need medically necessary contacts. We offer exams and specialty lenses like scleral, gas permeable, and hybrid lenses. We work with vision insurance to provide these lenses at a significantly reduced cost.
