COVE Plus: clear, flat-price eyecare without insurance.

No vision plan, or you prefer paying one clear price? The same care, with the cost spelled out before your visit.

Not having vision insurance should never be the reason a family puts off an eye exam. COVE Plus is our in-house program for patients who don't have a vision plan, or who simply prefer paying one clear price over working through one. You get the same doctors and the same care, with the cost spelled out before you sit down.

No membership fee, no enrollment, no fine print. You pay a flat price per appointment for the services you need, and a glasses credit comes with every visit that your whole family can share.

01
The Visit

What every COVE Plus visit includes.

A COVE Plus eye exam is the same exam any patient gets here, billed at a flat price instead of through a plan. It covers the three things that matter most for your eyes and your prescription:

A complete eye exam

A full evaluation of your vision and eye health by one of our optometrists. We check how your eyes work together and look for early signs of conditions you'd want caught early, the same standard of care every patient receives.

Refraction

The part of the exam that pins down your exact prescription. Many plans bill refraction as a separate charge; with COVE Plus the refraction is included in the flat exam fee, with no separate line item at checkout.

Screening photographs

Wide-field digital images of the back of your eye. They give the doctor a detailed look at your retina and a baseline to compare against year to year. For many patients they reduce the need for dilation that day, though the doctor may still recommend dilating your eyes when it's the right call for your health.

02
The Pricing

The pricing, in plain numbers.

No tiers to decode, no surprise add-ons. Two flat prices cover almost everyone, and the glasses credit below comes with every appointment.

Eye exam

Complete eye exam, refraction, and screening photos

From $175
flat, per appointment

Everything in Section 01 in one flat price: the doctor's full exam, the refraction that sets your prescription, and the screening photographs of your retina. It's the complete picture of your eye health and your glasses or contact lens prescription, with no separate refraction fee tacked on at checkout.

Add contacts

Contact lens services, if you wear or want contacts

Flat $275
fitting and prescription

A flat $275 covers the contact lens fitting and your contact lens prescription, on top of the exam. One price whether you're an experienced wearer renewing your script or trying contacts for the first time.

Need specialty lenses like sclerals for keratoconus or severe dry eye? Those are a different kind of fit. If you have VSP or EyeMed with an active medically necessary contact lens benefit, we check that first, since it's usually the better route. For patients without that benefit, we have a dedicated flat-price program. See COVE Plus Sclerals →

Materials such as glasses and contact lenses are priced separately from these service fees. Prices shown are current as of 2026 and may change. We'll confirm the COVE Plus service fee and any known separate costs before services begin.

03
The Glasses Credit

A glasses credit your whole family can share.

Every COVE Plus appointment comes with a $75 credit toward glasses. The part families like most: the credit is shareable. If you bring three kids in and only one of them needs glasses this year, the other two appointments' credits can stack onto that one pair.

And when someone does need a second pair, whether it's prescription sunglasses, a backup, or computer glasses, COVE Plus patients get that second pair at 50% off. Glasses are made and finished in our own lab right here in New Albany, so we control the quality and the turnaround.

How the shared credit works
3 visits

A family of three comes in for COVE Plus exams. Each appointment earns a $75 glasses credit.

$225 credit

Only one child needs glasses. All three credits can combine toward that one pair, so none of the value is left on the table.

50% off

Want a second pair too? COVE Plus takes half off the price of a second pair of glasses.

Who It's For

Who COVE Plus is for.

COVE Plus is built for anyone without a vision plan, and for people who have one but find flat pricing simpler. There's nothing to sign up for and no annual fee. You just let us know you'd like to use COVE Plus when you book.

If you do carry vision insurance like VSP or EyeMed, we accept those too, and we'll check your benefits in advance so you can compare. Either way, you'll know your cost before your appointment, with no obligation to choose one over the other.

The COVE Plus promise

No insurance, no problem. One flat price, the same doctors, the same care. No hidden fees, no separate refraction charge, no surprises at checkout.

We started COVE Plus because the lack of a vision plan keeps too many families from getting their eyes checked. You shouldn't have to choose between clear vision and a clear bill.

05
Questions

Common questions.

Q.01 Is COVE Plus insurance or a membership? +
Neither. It's simply our flat-price option for patients who don't use a vision plan. There's no membership fee, no enrollment, and nothing to renew. You pay one clear price for the visit you need.
Q.02 What does a COVE Plus exam cost? +
A complete eye exam, refraction, and screening photographs start at $175, flat, per appointment. If you wear or want contacts, contact lens services (the fitting and prescription) are a flat $275. Glasses and contact lenses themselves are priced separately. Every appointment also includes a $75 glasses credit.
Q.03 How does the shared glasses credit work? +
Each COVE Plus appointment earns a $75 credit toward glasses, and those credits can be combined across family members. If three family members are seen but only one needs glasses, all three $75 credits can go toward that one pair. COVE Plus patients also get 50% off a second pair of glasses.
Q.04 Can I use COVE Plus if I have vision insurance? +
You can choose whichever works better for you. We accept VSP and EyeMed, and we'll check your benefits before your visit so you can compare them against the flat COVE Plus price. Many people with a plan still come out ahead using it; COVE Plus is there for those who don't have one or prefer the simplicity.
Q.05 Does COVE Plus cover specialty contacts like sclerals? +
Specialty lenses, such as sclerals for keratoconus or severe dry eye, are a more involved fit than a standard contact lens, so they have their own flat-price program: COVE Plus Sclerals. If you have a vision plan with a medically necessary contact lens benefit, going through insurance is often the better route. We'll help you compare.
Q.06 How do I sign up for COVE Plus? +
There's nothing to sign up for. Just book an appointment and let us know you'd like to use COVE Plus. Call us at (614) 933-0575 or schedule online, and we'll confirm your flat price before you come in.
