What Does a Comprehensive Eye Exam Include?

Generally, in our practice philosophy, we choose to prescribe daily contact lenses most frequently. We believe that daily contact lenses provide the safest, healthiest, easiest way to wear contacts because the chance of infection is much lower, as well as being the most convenient method (no end of day cleaning!). Many people have the perception that daily contacts cost a lot more, but that’s not necessarily true. Also, it cuts down on the cost of contact lens solution over time – so there are many benefits to choosing daily contact lenses.

In our practice, a biweekly contact lens prescription is very rare. They are the most expensive contact lens option and they do not offer the same benefits as daily or monthly contact lenses. However, for some patients, biweekly contact lenses could be the best option.

Monthly lenses are typically our specialty lenses, so they are also more rare when it comes to prescribing them to our patients. We reach for these lenses mostly when a daily lens isn’t an option, such as when a patient has a very high prescription, high amounts of astigmatism, or needs multifocal as well as astigmatism.
