Once you have selected your frame (or dropped off an old one!) we start working on getting those lenses finished. Licensed opticians use the incredibly precise measurements of tools like Optikam to lay your lenses out super accurately – to tenth of a millimeter precision. We customize the bevel of the lens to ensure they fit your frame perfectly, but most importantly they cause the frame to match your head perfectly. We hide any thickness of your prescription lenses, add a beautifully high-luster polish to the edge and our state-of-the-art edger whittles them down to perfect finished prescription lenses. At this point, we assemble them by hand and inspect them for quality and accuracy. Deep clean and shine later – voila! You have handcrafted, perfect, amazing glasses.
How Are My Single-Vision Glasses Made?
We almost always use Trivex as the base of your lens. It is incredibly durable, unbelievably clear with less chromatic aberration, and one of the safest and most impact resistant lens materials available. When dispensed, we tend to hear “oh my gosh, it’s like everything just went high definition!” Because they are – they’re clearer, crisper and feel brighter than anything else. The next time you get glasses anywhere – ask them if it’s made out of Trivex. Ours proudly are.
The anti-reflective that is included helps reduce glare from headlights, streetlights, computers, TVs, cell phones and hundreds of other sources of glare that you encounter every day. We only use a non-glare that is “dip coated” which is optical jargon for “better quality”. We believe in the difference between dip coated and spin coated lenses so much that we guarantee the lens for two full years. If your glasses are damaged, just let us know and you’ll get a replacement set. No questions, no arguing – just free replacement lenses.
You can get glasses anywhere but when you get your glasses from COVE, you know that you have a pair of precision, hand finished glasses that are worlds different from what you’re used to getting. Come see us. You’ll see better.
